Zule Zoo Set To Celebrate 20 Years On Stage With ‘Ultimate Thank You Party’

The Nigerian music industry is set to witness a massive throwback moment as legendary duo Zule Zoo marks two decades of hit-making with a star-studded anniversary concert tagged the “Ultimate Thank You Party.”

Preparations have reached fever pitch for the event, scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the prestigious Blake Excellence Resort in Abuja. Music lovers, especially those who grew up in the early 2000s, are already counting down to what promises to be an unforgettable night of nostalgia, tributes, and pure entertainment.

Zule Zoo, comprising the late Michael Aboh and surviving member Al-Hassan Ibrahim (popularly known as Ibro), both from Benue State, burst onto the scene in the late 1990s. The duo quickly became household names with their energetic performances, catchy hooks, and unique dance moves that had the whole country “shaking body.”

Their breakout hit “Kerewa” remains one of the most talked-about songs of that era. The track, which was even banned by the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) due to its explicit content, still defined a generation and introduced the distinctive “Takuraku” sound – a vibrant fusion of traditional Nigerian rhythms, hip-hop, and reggae elements, heavily influenced by African percussion and Tiv cultural vibes.

The group’s influence went beyond music. They were pioneers who projected Nigerian (especially Northern and Middle Belt) culture on the national stage at a time when the industry was dominated by other regional sounds. Other popular tracks like “Jam Jam” and their stage presence at major events, including the 2018 Headies, further cemented their legacy.

The February 21 concert will not just be a celebration of 20 years on stage but also a touching tribute to the late Michael Aboh, who passed away in June 2022 after slumping while bathing. Organisers say the night will honour his immense contributions to Zule Zoo’s success and Nigerian music as a whole.

Al-Hassan Ibrahim is personally spearheading the initiative as a sincere “thank you” to fans and industry colleagues who stood by the group through thick and thin. The event will feature top-rated music stars, popular comedians, dancers, and renowned MCs, blending old-school classics with fresh contemporary vibes.

“Ticket prices have been deliberately slashed to allow fun seekers to come out in their large numbers and properly honour the duo,” a statement from the organisers revealed. This move is expected to pull a massive crowd to the Blake Excellence Resort, turning the venue into a melting pot of nostalgia and celebration.

From the streets of Makurdi to the airwaves across Africa, Zule Zoo’s journey has been nothing short of iconic. The “Ultimate Thank You Party” is not just another concert – it is a reunion of memories, a celebration of resilience, and a reaffirmation of the duo’s indelible mark on the Naija music scene.

Mark your calendars, Abuja! February 21, 2026, is going to be legendary. Get your tickets early and get ready to “Kerewa” one more time for the legends.
