The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has declared that states which rally the most votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections will be rewarded with increased federal projects and developmental initiatives.
Speaking on Monday at a grand endorsement ceremony in Katsina State for President Tinubu and Governor Dikko Umar Radda, Senator Barau emphasized the importance of electoral support in shaping the distribution of national resources. “I want to assure you that any state that re-elects President Tinubu with the highest votes would be given more projects in the next administration,” he stated.
The event, which drew thousands of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters and stakeholders, including APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and Hon. Nasir Bala Aminu Ja’oji, also witnessed mass defections to the APC, signaling growing momentum for the ruling party ahead of 2027. Governor Radda, in his remarks, reaffirmed Katsina as a solid APC stronghold and endorsed Tinubu for a second term from 2023 to 2031, highlighting the state’s unwavering alliance with the federal government.

Senator Barau praised President Tinubu’s leadership, noting that despite inheriting a challenging economic landscape from previous administrations, the president has delivered meaningful developments across various sectors. As earlier reported by NaijaChoice News, these include ongoing reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy and improving infrastructure nationwide. “President Tinubu is providing meaningful developments across the country despite the poor economic structures and challenges inherited from the past administration,” Barau added.
He further urged Nigerians to shun political opportunism and remain loyal to the APC at all levels, pointing out the party’s dominance with 29 governors as a clear sign of impending success in future polls. “I am working closely with Mr. President and I see his physical performance within the period of 3 years,” Barau said, calling for Tinubu’s re-election to sustain exemplary leadership in development.
The endorsement in Katsina aligns with similar movements across the North-West and beyond. For instance, APC stakeholders in the region have previously voiced support for Tinubu’s 2027 bid, with Barau himself pledging northern reciprocity for the president’s goodwill gestures, such as renaming institutions and funding scholarships. Additionally, a summit of former National Assembly members recently passed a vote of confidence in Tinubu, endorsing him as their sole candidate for the presidency.
Analysts view these endorsements as strategic efforts to consolidate APC’s base amid economic pressures, with Barau’s comments sparking debates on whether federal projects should be tied to electoral performance. Critics argue for equitable distribution of resources, but supporters see it as an incentive for political mobilization.
