LAGOS – Firebrand human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has dropped a bombshell, accusing Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of plotting to replace Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory after the 2027 general elections.
NaijaChoice News reports that the outspoken critic made the explosive claim in a video that has since gone viral on social media, where he also dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party as a dead entity serving only as a bargaining tool for Tinubu loyalists.
According to Adeyanju, most PDP chieftains are already working secretly for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition, using the party as a smokescreen to negotiate juicy positions.

He declared without mincing words: “PDP is a distraction; what is dead may never die again. I don’t want to bother myself about PDP now because everybody there is working for Tinubu.
“They are just looking for who will have the most bargaining chip. Seyi Makinde wants to replace Wike and maybe he will become the next FCT minister in 2027. So he is more or less how we will make Tinubu come back in 2027. I will not join them in their caricature; I don’t have their time.”
The allegation is coming at a time when the PDP remains deeply fractured, with Governor Makinde and FCT Minister Wike locked in a fierce war of words over control of the party’s structure.
Recent reports show Makinde openly accusing Wike of destabilising the PDP to please Tinubu, while Wike has fired back, describing Makinde as self-serving and not truly committed to the opposition party.
Political watchers note that Wike, a PDP heavyweight appointed FCT Minister by Tinubu in 2023 despite his party affiliation, has been accused by critics of “holding down” the PDP for the ruling APC.
Adeyanju’s latest outburst aligns with his consistent position that the PDP is finished and that key figures like Makinde and Wike are only fighting over who gets the bigger slice of Tinubu’s political patronage.
As Nigeria inches closer to 2027, analysts say such claims underscore the fluid alliances and horse-trading already shaping the political chessboard, with many PDP members allegedly eyeing soft-landing positions in a possible renewed Tinubu administration.
